19 of training delegation on Governance of Public Service Unite from the State Commission Office for Public Sector Reform, China, visited JACO and shared our experience and information on CSO system in Japan and China. Mr. Ohta, president and CEO of JACO, made a presentation about CSO system in Japan and systematic reform for Public Interest Corporation implemented in December 2008. Meeting participants had a lively exchange of views about each other’s public sectors.

CEO of GuideStar International, Mr. Buzz Schmidt visited Japan on Saturday September 24 and Mr. Schmidt and JACO staffs had morning meeting at JACO office on Monday October 26. We also had meeting with commissioners and staffs at Public Interest Corporation Commission (PICC) and discussed about the situation on disclosure by CSOs as well as the relationship between CSOs and government agencies regarding database system abroad. After having meeting with PICC, JACO held a seminar about the comparison among the US, the UK and Japan on CSO’s disclosure and improvement of the governance and disclosure system for PICs.

Mr. Yoshiharu Shiraishi, JACO research staff left Tokyo on September 18th for Johannesburg, South Africa to attend the Annual General Meeting of Affinity Group of National Association.
The AGNA meetings began on Sunday September 20 with discussions on the global financial crisis and its impact on civil society as well as AGNA regional meetings. On Monday September 21 we will be had the AGNA-LTA (Legitimacy, Transparency and Accountability) workshop and the AGNA Annual General Meeting held on Tuesday September 22. On the last day of the AGNA meeting on Wednesday September 23, we had a tour of SOWETO.
